E-mobility funding for companies 2024
The extension of the e-mobility campaign for 2024 was recently announced. The new guidelines bring some changes for companies compared to the previous year and will apply from 1 April 2024 until the end of March 2025.
The most important changes at a glance
Still no subsidy for the purchase of e-cars
The purchase of new electric cars (BEVs and FCEVs in the M1 and N1 classes with a maximum permissible gross weight of ≤2 tonnes) will not be supported by companies in the 2024 funding year either. In addition to private individuals, only social organisations, driving schools, e-car sharing operators and taxi companies are eligible to apply. The amount of funding remains unchanged from the previous year at €2,000, although plug-in hybrids will no longer be subsidised from this year onwards.
Purchase of electric commercial vehicles up to class M2 subsidised
As in the previous year, the purchase of electric commercial vehicles for companies will continue to be subsidised. What is new is that heavy e-commercial vehicles, special e-vehicles and larger e-buses now also benefit from the e-mobility bonus. The amount of the subsidy depends on the respective vehicle class and is up to 6,000 euros for e-commercial vehicles in the smallest class N1 (>2.0 tonnes to ≤2.5 tonnes maximum permissible gross weight). For the highest class M2, there is up to 20,000 euros.
New conditions for the promotion of charging infrastructure
This year, the installation of publicly accessible charging stations (parking columns or wallboxes) will again be subsidised with up to 30,000 euros. However, the conditions for receiving this funding have changed:
- Non-discriminatory access (applies to tariffs, authentication and payment methods as well as other terms of use)
- Usage fees customary in the market & transparently recognised
- Public accessibility and usability must be guaranteed at all times
- Mandatory entry in the E-Control register of charging points
- Charging points must be digitally networked and smart charging must be possible
- For charging stations over 50 kW, payment must be possible using standard means of payment (debit/credit cards) or contactless without prior registration.
The installation of charging stations that are not accessible to the public is also subsidised with up to 15,000 euros. The only requirements for receiving funding are that the charging stations are installed by a licensed electrical contractor and registered with the grid operator if the power output is ≥3.6 kVA. In addition, the charging infrastructure must be able to communicate and be integrated into a load management system.
New application deadlines
The application deadlines now differentiate between individual measures and combined measures. In the case of individual measures, only one funding application is submitted for an e-vehicle or e-charging infrastructure. In this case, funding must be applied for after implementation. In the case of combined measures, a funding application is submitted for an e-vehicle in combination with an e-charging infrastructure or e-mobility projects. In this case, the funding must be applied for before implementation.
