Delivery of your company car has been delayed – what now?

The continuing corona pandemic had a significant impact last year. The automotive sector has also had to face up to some tough challenges. These include delivery bottlenecks for important electronic components, for example. A circumstance that has become even more aggravated on account of the increased amount of electrification in vehicles.

These bottlenecks are primarily making themselves felt in daily business through longer delivery times for vehicles. This may often lead to an appreciable increase in the vehicle’s cost. This is the case, for example, when the delay means that the NoVA has to be paid for a car that was free from NoVA at the time it was ordered.

A look at current delivery periods in four vehicle categories

  •   The delivery period is extended for 42 percent on average in the categories compact car, limousine, SUV and commercial vehicle.
  •   Whereas you could expect to take receipt of a compact car after an average of 60 days before the pandemic, you now have to wait around 103 days.
  •   The situation is a little better for commercial vehicles and limousines, even though the delivery period here is more than 35 percent longer than usual.
  •   Of the four vehicle categories under consideration, the shortest delay in the delivery period is for SUVs, where you only have to wait an extra 24 percent.

Experts are predicting that the delays in delivery will continue over the coming months.
